Frequently asked questions about DEIF

At DEIF, we try to make things as easy as possible for our customers. As part of these efforts, we have collected some frequently asked questions (FAQ) – click here to visit the support FAQ page. It contains useful information about many of our products and solutions!

In addition to technical questions about our products, we sometimes get questions about software, hardware, and documentation options. You can see the most commonly asked questions about these topics, and our answers, below; we hope that our FAQ and these answers will clear up some of the questions you may have when doing business with us. If they don’t, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Why can’t I find older software versions?

DEIF’s products keep improving, even after they leave our factory. Our developers are constantly implementing new functions, improving performance, fixing bugs, testing, and getting approvals for new software. We therefore strongly recommend that you always use the latest software for new installations.

You can find the latest software on the product page on the DEIF website. When you download software from the DEIF website, you can also choose to get email notifications about software updates. Older software is not available on the DEIF website.

We understand that the demands on your plant might mean that the equipment is not available for a software update. If you need a copy of an older software version for a standard DEIF product, create a support ticket.

Why can’t I find older documentation?

DEIF’s documentation keeps improving even after your products leave our factory. Our technical writers are constantly describing new functions, improving usability, fixing errors, and doing documentation reviews. We therefore strongly recommend that you always use the latest documentation.

The latest documentation is always available on the product page on the DEIF website. Older documentation is not available on the DEIF website.

If you choose not to update your software regularly, we recommend that you save a copy of the documentation when you buy your product. If you need a copy of older documentation for a standard DEIF product, create a support ticket.

Why does DEIF have so many hardware options?

To give our customers flexibility, some of DEIF’s products have a wide variety of hardware options. New customers may find this confusing, so we’ll let you in on a DEIF secret: We only want you to pay for the hardware you need! By having lots of hardware options, you only need to buy the hardware required for your application. This lines up with DEIF’s mission to prevent waste and protect the environment.

Of course, if you need hardware that is not included in the standard product, you can select the options that you need when you place your order. If you later find that you need more hardware, you can either send the equipment to DEIF, or order a service visit from DEIF to add more hardware.

For some of our products (like PPU 300 and PPM 300), our customers can change and add more hardware themselves. This is of course subject to common sense precautions, like disconnecting the power supplies before making the change, and preventing electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage to the uninstalled hardware. For these products, DEIF’s hardware options also lower the lifetime cost of owning the DEIF product. Having replaceable components means that there’s no need to replace the whole product if only part of the product is damaged or worn out.

The product data sheets describe all the hardware options. If you need help to select the right hardware for your application, create a support ticket.

Why does DEIF have so many software options?

Some of DEIF’s products have a wide variety of software options. New customers may find this confusing, so we’ll let you in on a DEIF secret: We only want you to pay for the software you need!

We’ve invested millions of manhours in developing our software, and offer a wide range of well-designed, thoroughly tested, advanced functions. If your application doesn’t need these advanced functions, you pay less.

Of course, if you need software that is not included in the standard product, you can select the options that you need when you place your order. If you later find that you need more software options, you can use the DEIF utility software to order them, then install them yourself. When you update to the latest software, the software options are also updated to the latest version.

The product data sheets describe all the software options. If you need help to select the right software for your application, create a support ticket.
